About Luke Briggs
Shifty Habits is made by one person: Luke Briggs, a shift worker who built it because every habit tracker he tried assumed regular hours he didn't have. He also writes the guides on this site.
Who he is
Luke is a maintenance leading hand who works shifts, so his week follows a roster rather than the calendar. That is the problem Shifty Habits started from: a habit app that marks you as failing on a rostered day off, or splits a night shift across two dates, isn't built for the way shift workers live.
He designed, built and maintains the app on his own, and publishes it on Google Play under the developer name Luke@ShiftyHabits.
How the guides are written
- From working a roster. The advice on routines, sleep, food and habits comes from doing it on real shift patterns, not from reading about them.
- Checked against published guidance where it touches health. Sleep, light and caffeine advice is checked against sources such as the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and those sources are linked from the guide.
- Not medical advice. Persistent trouble sleeping, or falling asleep at the wheel, is a conversation with a doctor. The guides say so where it matters.
- Honest about the app. Where a guide mentions Shifty Habits, it describes what the app actually does today. Guides are corrected when the app changes.
